Public Safety Officers Investigate Attempted Stolen Cars, Drug Deal Busted and Rescue During a Fire

Attempted car theftsÂ
Officers are investigating a pair of attempted car thefts early Tuesday morning. Officers were called about 5:30 a.m. to a home near Fisher and Goethe for a possible theft from a car. Officers located a Chrysler mini-van with the window of the driver's door shattered, but no items were removed.Â
About two hours earlier, in the 400 block of Madison, an officer on patrol observed a Jeep Cherokee with the hazard lights blinking. The officer investigated, and found someone had attempted to steal the vehicle.Â

Garage fire and rescue
Grosse Pointe Farms Public Safety officers responded about 3:40 a.m. Sunday to a report of a fire in a detached garage in the 400 block of Madison. According to a police report, the intensity of the blaze was damaging garages to the west and south of the fire. As officer were suiting up for the initial attack of the fire, a resident in a neighboring home called out to help rescue a wheelchair-bound relative from the home. The relative was safely removed from the house, and the blaze was extinguished with the assistance of neighboring departments. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Â

Drug deal busted
Grosse Pointe Farms police arrested a 44-year-old Detroit resident was arrested Aug. 16 for selling marijuana, and a 34-year-old Grosse Pointe Park resident for possession of marijuana, following a reported drug sale near the 100 block of Kercheval.Â
An officer observed the men walking to an SUV, and the Detroit resident lifting the rear gate of the vehicle. He reportedly grabbed a bag of marijuana, and after receiving money, gave the bag to Grosse Pointe Park man. Officers followed the Grosse Pointe Park man to his home, where he was arrested for possession of marijuana. The Detroit was also arrested for the sale of marijuana.Â
