Side Street Diner to Offer Outdoor Dining

Four wrought iron tables with four chairs each will be set up in a fenced in area just outside the diner's main entrance on St. Clair Street. The dining area is also bordered by four existing planter structures that currently enclose a public seating area featuring a few benches.Β
The benches will be moved to other locations within the Village or into the City's park. The fencing, which will match that used by neighboring restaurant T.N. Thai, will be removable and will be taken down during the colder months.

Side Street Diner owners are required to submit information about the umbrellas, their color and design for further approval before putting any out in the dining area--an addition to their site plan application by the city's engineer.
Councilwoman Jean Weipert questioned the ability to eat dinner during the Music on the Plaza performances, to which she was told that could happen. "Hum," she said, smiling. "I'll have to try that."
