STATE CHAMPS: Grosse Pointe South Girls Win Cross-Country Crown
Hannah Meier finishes third overall to lead Blue Devils to state title.
girls cross-country team won the Division 1 state championship Saturday at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, according to the MHSAA.
The Blue Devils finished with 106 points to edge runner-up Saline, which finished with 111 points.
Hannah Meier led Grosse Pointe South. She finished third overall with a time of 17:24.1.

Kelsie Schwartz placed 10th with a time of 18:21.2, Haley Meier was 12th in 18:24.1, and Ersula Farrow was 21st in 18:41.7.
Other top runners for the Blue Devils were Megan Sklarski (19:41.7), Carolyn Sullivan (20:32.7) and Nicole Keller (21:27.1).

finished 26th in the team competition.
Allison Francis led the Norsemen with a time of 19:40.0. Katy VanEgmond had a time of 19:56.4, Natalie Schaefer had a time of 20:21.7, Sarah Rustmann had a time of 21:55.1, and Julia Rustmann had a time of 21:55.7.
Division 1 boys
Grosse Pointe South placed 28th in the boys state finals.
Austin Montgomery had the top time for the Blue Devils in 16:44.5. Other top runners for GPS were Jacob Knuth (17:20.2), Cameron Davies (17:32.2), Matt Geist (17:45.5), Zachary Montgomery (17:46.6), Charles Warren (17:54.2) and Bradley Sanford (18:27.1).
Nick Finley of Grosse Pointe North was 127th with a time of 16:49.2.
Division 4
girls team finished 27th at the Division 4 girls cross-country finals.
Danielle Lorant paced the Knights with a time of 22:24.1. Other runners for University Liggett were Wesley DeJoie (22:37.9), Haleigh Ristovski (22:44.3), Katarina Goitz (23:39.4), Taylor Slayton (24:49.3) and Jo Hummell (27:38.0).
In the boys competition, Liggettβs Kevin Allen was 95th in 17:54.7.
