USS Edson to Pass Through Detroit River, Lake St. Clair

A decommissioned destroyer en route to the Bay City area is expected to pass through the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair in the next few days.

The USS Edson will pass through the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair in the next few days as it makes its way to its permanent home in Bangor Township on Saginaw Bay, according to MLive.

The USS Edson is a decommissioned destroyer that a tugboat is towing to the Bay City area, where it will become a floating museum. The ship is expected to reach Bangor Township on Monday at 8 p.m., according to MLive.

En route, the USS Edson will pass communities along the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair, including Trenton, Wyandotte, Grosse Pointe, St. Clair Shores and New Baltimore. Fort Wayne in Detroit will offer a cannon salute when the USS Edson passes on the Detroit River.
