Woods' Miele Named CCHA Player of the Year

Miami (Ohio) forward leads nation in scoring as he heads into CCHA semifinals on Friday.

Grosse Pointe Woods native and Miami (Ohio) senior forward Andy Miele was named the RBC Financial Group CCHA Player of the Year at the conference’s annual awards meeting at the Fox Theatre in Detroit on Thursday night, according to a league release.

Miele was the top scorer in collegiate hockey this season with 65 points, the most by a CCHA player since the 1991-92 season. He had 21 goals and 44 assists in 36 games.

Miele is also a nominee for the Hobey Baker Award, which is given to the best player in college hockey.

Miele will lead Miami against Notre Dame on Friday at 4:30 p.m. in the semifinals of the CCHA tournament at Joe Louis Arena.
