Church To Open New Preschool In Howell In September 2026 (whmi.com) — Families in Howell can look forward to a new faith-based preschool opening at First United Methodist Church off Bower Street in September 2026. The program will emphasize whole-child development, from social-emotional skills to school readiness, and will be staffed by experienced local educators, with registration details expected in early 2026.

Michigan hunters donate 140,000 pounds of venison through DNR's statewide feeding program (wzmq19.com) — Hunters in and around Howell can donate deer at Great Lakes Custom Meats & More, helping turn local harvests into meals for families in need. Michigan’s Hunters Feeding Michigan program expects to provide 140,000 pounds of ground venison to food pantries statewide this season, with processors paid per pound so donations move quickly to hungry households.
3. Woolford Honored As MIRS Freshman Legislator Of The Year (whmi.com) — State Rep. Jason Woolford, a Republican from Howell, has been named MIRS Freshman Legislator of the Year for his oversight work targeting waste, fraud, and abuse in Michigan government. He led reviews that uncovered significant SNAP error rates and weak verification in MDHHS systems, and he’s pushing reforms to strengthen Bridge Card security and ensure aid reaches families who truly need it.

City of Southfield mulls proposal for new data center, one developers say will recycle its water (cbsnews.com) — Proposed data centers in Howell have drawn protests and are now being used as a cautionary comparison as Southfield weighs a much smaller, water‑recycling facility. Southfield officials are pressing the developer for details on technology, power use, and neighborhood impact before voting, and they’re inviting public comment at an upcoming council meeting.
