  1. A 19-year-old Portage resident, Kendrik Quincy Cox, has been apprehended and placed under arrest for allegedly shooting at a man and a woman in connection with a previous domestic dispute. The incident took place in a parking lot on South Westnedge Avenue, prompting a police response. The suspect was located later that evening at a Portage apartment complex and subsequently charged with assault with intent to murder, felony firearm, and discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle. Cox appeared in court, where his bond was set at $250,000. (WKZO)
  2. The annual Memorial Weekend Pancake Breakfast in South Haven will have a special purpose this year as it aims to support the family of a nearby Paw Paw firefighter, Lt. Ethan Quillen, who tragically lost his life while responding to a downed power line during an ice storm. South Haven Area Emergency Services has announced that half of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Quillen's family. The breakfast, featuring pancakes, sausages, scrambled eggs, and beverages, will take place at Station 3 on Sunday, May 28, with admission prices set at $10 for adults, $5 for children aged 4-14, and free entry for children under 4. (FOX 17 West Michigan News)
  3. Michigan State Police (MSP) is seeking public assistance in locating two women who allegedly abandoned a vulnerable adult at the Al Sabo land preserve in Kalamazoo County. The individuals, identified as 50-year-old Angela Clarissa Crute and an unidentified woman, were last seen entering the preserve after getting off a Kalamazoo Metro bus. The incident was reported by maintenance personnel who encountered the group in a wooded area, but the women could not be found later. MSP suspects that Crute, who is wanted for potential charges related to vulnerable adult abuse, may have returned to her hometown of Richmond, Virginia. Anyone with information is urged to contact MSP or submit anonymous tips to Silent Observer. (FOX 17 West Michigan News)
