  1. Community pools in the Lansing and East Lansing area are geared up to remain open and busy during the holiday weekend. Hunter Park Pool has already announced that all of its facilities will be open for the Fourth of July with no entrance fee, and all visitors have to do is follow the rules, wear a swimsuit, and make sure children under 12 are accompanied by an adult. In East Lansing, the Aquatic Center on Abbott Road is also expected to be open, and daily passes can be purchased as well as seasonal passes. The Mid-Michigan communities are excited to celebrate the holiday weekend in style, cooling off, and enjoying a nice break. (WKAR)
  2. Governor Gretchen Whitmer has officially signed new sexual assault laws that will enforce stricter punishments. The new laws were inspired by the sexual assault scandal at Michigan State involving Larry Nassar, who is currently serving decades in prison for possession of child pornography and for sexually assaulting athletes at MSU and USA Gymnastics. In addition to these harsher punishments, the new law mandates the creation and distribution of new comprehensive training materials for those required to report child abuse and neglect. (WKZO)
  3. A hidden gem is still available in DeWitt Township as a home that resembles a flying saucer is still on the market after its previous owner passed away last December. Robert Clark built the unique home back in 1994 and lived in it until his passing, the eye-catching home is just as amazing internally as it is externally. Once the house was placed on the market it was booked for back-to-back showings. Keller Williams Realty agent Stacie Neros is very hopeful that she will be able to sell the home as it is a one-of-a-kind property. (WILX)
