Here are the top three stories in Lansing-East Lansing today:

  1. Michigan State University campus police announced that two more students who were injured during last month's shooting have been sent home from Lansing's Sparrow Hospital. As of Friday, two students still remained in the hospital, one listed to be in fair condition and another listed to be in critical condition. (WOODTV.com)
  2. Deputy Police Chief Chad Connelly of the East Lansing Police Department submitted his notice of resignation, with his last day scheduled for Mar. 19. The deputy police chief's resignation is the most recent of several city official resignations, including the city clerk and deputy city clerk last month. Of Connelly's resignation, the city's Interim City Manager Randy Talifarro said, "We do want to reassure the community that, while the City of East Lansing is going through a difficult transitional period at this time, there are still many dedicated City employees working every day to ensure services continue to be provided to residents at a high level." (WILX)
  3. Michigan State University officials announced that the three victims of the Feb. 13 campus shooting will receive posthumous degrees. The students, 20-year-old Alexandria Verner, 19-year-old Arielle Anderson, and 20-year-old Brian Fraser, will each receive a bachelor's degree in the fields that they were studying. Board Chair Dr. Rema Vassar said of the decision, "Simply put, awarding each of them a bachelor’s degree is the least we can do to honor their families, commemorate their legacies, and commend their contributions to our Spartan community.” (WZZM13.com)
