2. Michigan Farm Bureau Pavilion Expansion Approved; 2nd Arena Planned (wlen.com) — Michigan State University is moving ahead with plans to expand the Michigan Farm Bureau Pavilion in East Lansing, adding a second indoor arena to boost event capacity. Lansing reaches deal to break up homeless encampment, offer temporary shelter (wilx.com) — Lansing officials have reached a court-approved deal to close a homeless encampment near Dietrich Park while offering six weeks of city-funded emergency shelter and transportation starting by December 22. Anyone still at the camp after December 23 could be removed as a trespasser. The agreement coincides with the city floating a sixth potential site for its proposed ModPod community.
   

4. Lansing Santa gives back to those he does business with (lansingstatejournal.com) — A longtime Lansing resident is suiting up as Santa to surprise the local businesses he frequents, including waving to traffic outside Affordable Tire & Service Center on Larch Street. Bernaldo Hernandez spends his holiday season roaming Lansing in costume, sharing cheer with workers and passersby as his personal way of giving back to the community that keeps him rolling year-round.
   

5. Lawmakers discuss repealing Michigan's red flag law (wlns.com) — State lawmakers gathered in Lansing to debate repealing Michigan’s red flag law, which lets courts temporarily remove guns from people deemed dangerous. Supporters and opponents packed the House Office Building, clashing over due process, public safety, and how broadly the law defines who can request an order. No vote has been scheduled yet, so Lansing residents should watch for next steps.
