Here are the top three stories in Lansing-East Lansing today:

  1. The Michigan College Access Network has granted over $95,000 worth of grants to nearly 100 high schools and community-based organizations across the state. These grants can be used for a variety of things whether it is college trips, decorations for decision day events, or even FAFSA workshops. The goal of the Michigan College Access Network is to assist students in the state, providing resources and direction whether financially or with guidance into making better decisions for their futures. Applications are currently being accepted by MCAN for College Bound Michigan for the 2023-2024 school year. (WILX)
  2. The Dundee Descants choir from Dundee High School has the honor of being selected to perform among the best choirs in the state of Michigan at the All-State Festival Gala tonight at 7 p.m. This is the first time in school history the program has been selected to perform in this festival and the music department staff could not be more proud. The event will be held in East Lansing at Michigan State University's Fairchild Theater. The Descants are a 24-person choir composed of all females, they will be competing with state-known choirs such as the Ann Arbor Pioneers and the Traverse City Choral-Aires. (Monroe Evening News)
  3. Police are investigating an apparent hit-and-run that occurred in Lansing Tuesday evening resulting in one woman being injured. A bit before 8 p.m. a 6 News photographer witnessed a black SUV make a left on Marshall and strike the back of a blue Elantra causing the vehicle to spin out and crash. After the incident, the suspect was seen fleeing from the scene down Marshall in their vehicle. The injured victim is expected to survive their injuries from the accident. (WLNS)

  • The East Lansing Police Department would like to congratulate the two newest officers to join the force. Officer Brennen Surman and Officer Cuong Dang-Le have officially finished the academy and were sworn into the force earlier this week. (East Lansing Police Department via Facebook)
  • This Friday, Lansing Parks and Recreation will be hosting a Summer Hiring Fair giving those interested an opportunity to interview and find seasonal positions for this summer.   • This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and the Lansing School District wants to use this week to show its appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the teachers each and every day for the students.
