Man suspected of threatening No Kings protestors misses court date (monroenews.com) — A man accused of sending violent messages to organizers of the No Kings protest in downtown Monroe failed to appear for a Dec. 8 court hearing, and a bench warrant will be issued. Local activist Katybeth Davis of Good Trouble Monroe thanked Monroe authorities for pursuing the case, while the suspect faces a riot-inciting charge tied to the October demonstration.

2. Ford planning 1.5 million square foot facility in Frenchtown Twp. (monroenews.com) — Ford plans a massive $195 million, 1.5‑million‑square‑foot parts warehouse at Telegraph and Buhl in Frenchtown Township, adding roughly 200 jobs and new tax revenue for Airport Community Schools. The project, InSite’s third Ford site in Monroe County, will sit across from Ford’s existing distribution center and could be operating by 2027 if construction proceeds as expected.

3. May They Rest in Peace: Sr. George Ellen Brannick, IHM (detroitcatholic.com) — Monroe’s IHM community is mourning Sr. George Ellen Brannick, IHM, who died Dec. 5 at age 99 and will be honored with services at the IHM Motherhouse Chapel on Dec. 15. A beloved teacher for more than 50 years, she later served and volunteered at the Monroe Motherhouse, where many residents and staff knew her from her daily mail rounds.

4. Driver dies after medical emergency leads to crash on I-75 (wtol.com) — A 76-year-old Chesterfield man died after an apparent medical emergency led to a two-vehicle crash on northbound I-75 in Frenchtown Township, according to the Monroe County Sheriff. The midday collision near Post Road sent both vehicles into the median, but the Westland driver and passenger in the other car were uninjured. The man was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
