7-Eleven locations across the country are celebrating the retailer's 86th birthday on Thursday, July 11 (7/11) by giving out free Slurpees all day.
The annual promotion, known by fans of the popular frozen drink as Free Slurpee Day, runs from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. at participating locations.
This year will feature full 12-ounce Slurpees compared to the 7.11-ounce size offered in previous years.
Fans are also encouraged to do the "Slurpee dance" to celebrate and to post videos of their dance moves to 7-Eleven’s Facebook fan page, or on Twitter, YouTube or Vine with the tag @slurpee #slurpeedance.
“7-Eleven Day, July 11, occurs at the approximate midpoint of summer and the Slurpee season when summer fun is in high gear," Laura Gordon, 7-Eleven vice president of marketing and brand innovation, said in a press release. "It also marks a milestone for 7-Eleven when we raise a collective Slurpee toast and dance a crazy dance to celebrate our birthday and all things 7-Eleven."
7-Eleven has celebrated its birthday on July 11 for decades, but it wasn’t until its 75th birthday in 2002 that its stores began hosting birthday parties coast-to-coast with free Slurpee drinks for its customers. Read more about the promotion here.
