Man Dead After Getting Hit By Car On Gratiot Ave In Macomb Co.: Police

The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, according to police.​​​​

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI — A 63-year-old man was killed Tuesday after he was hit by a car in Macomb County, according to police.

The crash happened at 5:41 p.m. on Gratiot Avenue, just north of 23 Mile Road in Chesterfield Township, according to police.

Witnesses told officers the man was crossing Gratiot Avenue in the northbound lanes outside a crosswalk when he was hit by a white car, according to police.

The man was taken to McLaren Macomb Hospital where he died from his injuries, according to police.

The driver of the white car, a 24-year-old woman, stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, according to police.

Officials were still investigating the crash and asked anyone with information to call Detective Walsh, of the Chesterfield Police Department, at 586-949-3657.
