Man Throws Hot Dog When Accused of Stealing from Home Depot

This information was provided by Northville Township police.

A man attempted to get a refund June 29 for items he did not buy from Home Depot, according to a Northville Township police report.

The man has been doing this at the store for some time, the report said. He would find receipts in the parking lot or in the garbage, find the item in the store and attempt to make an exchange for cash, according to the report.

The man selected two tarps and attempted to return them, the report said. When a loss prevention agent confronted him, he refused to return inside and threw a hot dog that he just bought at the agent, the report said.

Police got the man’s phone number after speaking to the registered owner of the truck and told him to come to the police department, the report said. He said he would let officers know when he would be able to get off work to come in, according to the report.
