Northville Bridal Shop Owner Wins Dance Award

Elizabeth Clancy is among a handful of Arthur Murray Dance Studios dancers who won awards on March 11.

Elizabeth Clancy, owner of , and her partner/teacher, Jay Johnson, earned "The Most Theatrical Dance Performance" award at the Arthur Murray showcase held at the Inn at St. John's Sunday, March 11.

They wore vintage clothing, circa the 1930s. They performed an Argentine Tango, which included lifts, jumps and drops. Clancy and Johnson dance at the s in Northville.

The intricate dance was choreographed by Jay Johnson who has been with Arthur Murray for 14 years. Wth his incredible and innovative choreography and exceptional teaching skills, Jay and many of his students have won numerous dance awards. Jay's mission statement is to present his students in the best possible light.

Judy Piatrowski-Wisne, also a student from the Northville Arthur Murray dance studio, earned the "Rising Star Award" for her oustanding Tango, Cha Cha, and Viennese Waltz, performed with her partner/teacher, Dwight Davis. Judy and Dwight are pro/am competitors on a national level, and have earned many awards for their creative and energetic routines. Dwight's choreography is always brilliant and powerful, and the couple are well known as "crowd pleasers". Pat Kovach, was also honored and earned her award for "Most Animated Dance" while perfprming a beautiful and lyrical Rumba with her partner/teacher, Dwight Davis. Pat is an accomplished dancer who has won awards with both partner/teachers, Jay Johnson and Dwight Davis, in past Arthur Murray Showcases.
