Northville Psychiatric Hospital Slated For Demolition
After much deliberation the hospital that has been an eye sore to the community, is expected to be demolished by the end of next year.

NORTHVILLE, MI - After much deliberation Northville Township officials have come to a solution of what to do with the former Northville Psychiatric Hospital property. Sitting on 350 acres of land, The Adamo Group of Detroit has been contracted to go through with demolishing the main hospital building. A towering architectural ruin and asbestos hazard located on 7 Mile Rd and Haggerty, the contract is worth $5.9 million, there are preparations being made to clean up asbestos in the area, and the main hospital building should be down within the year.
The hospital that opened originally in 1952 and was later closed by the state in 2003, was owned by Northville Township until 2009 when voters of the city had gone and approved a tax to buy the property and have it be used for recreational purposes that would cost the city about $23. 5 million.
