Northville School Bus Involved in Hit-and-Run

A school bus was rear-ended Thursday morning, and the car continued down the road.

A bus heading to Ridge Wood Elementary School in Northville was rear-ended by a pick up truck Thursday morning, according to a listserv email from the school. Nobody was injured.

According to the email, Bus Q on Route 37 was rear-ended by a blue pick-up truck as the bus was preparing to turn left onto Six Mile Road from Beck Road.

Following the collision, the bus driver completed the turn and immediately pulled over to the side of Six Mile Road. However, the driver of the pick-up continued straight on Beck Road, failing to stop at the scene.

The police were contacted and arrived very quickly. Once the details were established, the police instructed the driver to proceed to Ridge Wood to drop the students off at school. All students arrived safely by 9 a.m. and went directly to class. The police did not issue any citations to the bus driver, and have put out a bulletin to locate the vehicle that hit the bus.
