Northville Student 'Reflections' Contest Winners Announced
Fourteen Northville students won in various categories of the arts competition.
The Michigan Parent Teacher Association has named 16 Northville students as winners of its annual statewide Reflections arts competition.
Students were selected based on submissions in a variety of arts categories. Students submit on the primary, intermediate, middle and senior levels. This year's theme was "Diversity means..."
"The program offers students in preschool through grade 12 the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition. It celebrates the many skills of our students and encourages them to pursue artistic expression in a number of different ways including Film/Video Production, Dance Choreography, Musical Composition, Photography, Visual Arts and Literature," according to the Michigan PTA Reflections website.

Five of the winners will go on to national level of competition. Sonia K. Prabhu, a Northville High School student, was selected to submit two entries on the national level. According to the national PTA site, the following awards will be given: Outstanding Interpretation Awards, Awards of Excellence, Awards of Merit and Honorable Mentions. Last year, Northville had one national winner, Chandler Candela.

The following students will go on to the national competition: Atkinson, Prabhu, Smith and Wang.
Northville's awards ceremony will be at the , with gallery hours showcasing all of the district's state entries on May 16-20 from 1-5pm. A celebration will be held for Michigan's winners on May 5 at Stout Middle School in Dearborn.
