He adds, "Significant opportunities and challenges for development in the Township include the commercial and recreational development of the Seven Mile property, the prison property, the former ROC Church property on Beck Road and the Five Mile development corridor serving Northville and Plymouth
Townships. Planning, zoning and development matters are critically important to Township residents, and are both complicated and controversial. The new Township Supervisor needs the skills to encourage and control development,

Nix said in the release that his goal as supervisor would be to "lead the Township in the next phase of development, maintain a transparent government and have Township Board decisions made on the basis of what is in the best interests of the Township and not any particular person, group or special interest."
Nix is one of two announced candidates for the position. Trustee Mark Abbo has said he and township trustee Christopher Roosen has announced .
