Watch Out for I-275 Construction in Northville

The Michigan Department of Transportation will begin this $195,000 project after Labor Day.

Workers will begin construction on the southbound I-275 exit to Six Mile Road starting after Labor Day.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be widening a portion of the exit ramp beginning Tuesday. This project will extend the left-turn lane on the ramp and is expected to cost $195,000, according to MDOT.

The ramp will remain open during construction, which is expected to be completed in November.

MDOT is widening the exit ramp in anticipation of increased traffic during the I-96 closure in 2014, when both directions of the highway between Newburgh and Telegraph roads will close for reconstruction. Traffic simulations done in preparation of the I-96 closure show a high likelihood for additional vehicles exiting southbound I-275 at Six Mile Road, according to MDOT.

Crews will work during the daytime until the project is completed.
