Delve Deeper into Novi High's Michigan Merit Exam Scores
Scores for Novi High School improved in every subject.

Novi High School students continue to score above the state average on the Michigan Merit Exam (MME), and Novi students' scores in all subjects increased in the 2012-13 school year, according to a report released by the Michigan Department of Education.
The test, taken each spring by high school juniors, showed that the class of 2014 scored higher than recently graduated peers in reading, math, science, writing and social studies.

Nick Kalakailo, director of Student Growth and Accountability for Novi schools, said scores have never really been low in Novi.
"When you approach things in a steady way you get the kind of results you see this year," he said.
He said it can be a challenge to make gains when the scores are already high, and the community should feel good about this year's results because they increased again.
Students don't score well simply because of test preparation, Kalakailo said.
"When you look at the research around why these students do well, it’s because they experience a rich, comprehensive curriculum," he said.
