Dating back to the 1850s, libraries and philanthropists sent carts of books into rural populations to share the joys of reading. Today's DIGITALBookmobile takes that idea to a whole new level with hands-on learning stations to search digital media, download eBooks, use supported mobile devices, and more — all housed in a high-tech 18-wheel tractor-trailer.
The DIGITALBookmobile sponsored by OVERDRIVE will be located in the 's parking lot on June 20 from 10 a..m to 4 p.m. The DIGITALBookmobile is a unique, self-sufficient community outreach vehicle and program that promotes the library and its download website. Through this program, roughly 75,000 patrons and hundreds of library staff members have been trained to use a wide variety of modern library services. The national DIGITALBookmobile tour continues through July.
“The Novi Public Library is thrilled to be part of the DIGITALBookmobile’s 2012 tour. We think the community will enjoy this opportunity to learn more about the amazing variety of resources, technology and services the Library offers,” said Novi Public Library Director Julie Farkas.
