Former Novi Priest to Plead Guilty in Child Porn Case

The priest was arrested last year for downloading images of child pornography onto a personal computer.

Timothy Murray of Novi, former Catholic pastor of St. Edith Parish in Livonia, is expected to plead guilty in federal court on charges of downloading child pornography, The Detroit News reported

He will appear before U.S. District Judge Victoria Roberts on July 24, Gina Balaya, spokeswoman with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, told The Detroit News.

Prosecutors said undercover U.S. Department of Homeland Security investigators found Murray was downloading pornographic pictures of naked young children engaged in sexual poses on his personal computer between May and November 2012, according to the article

Murray, who is free on a $10,000 bond, allegedly admitted to investigators that he had about 500 images and videos of child porn that he downloaded onto his computer, the article said.

Murray allegedly told investigators that he views child pornography weekly and his preference is 13-year-old boys, according to the article.
