Gladwin Man Faces Charges in Novi 7 Eleven Robbery

Thanks to sharp-eyed Wixom Police officers, a 23-year-old Gladwin man involved in a robbery of a 7 Eleven in Novi is in custody.

According to a Farmington Hills Police Department press release, Jared Douglas Spencer was arrested for loitering near a cash advance store in Wixom, and officers there recognized him from a suspect bulletin issued by Farmington Hills Police, following the July 9 robbery at a CVS.

Spencer was involved in a similar robbery at a CVS store in Lyon Township, police said.

In the Farmington Hills case, Spencer is accused of demanding money after asking a clerk for several different brands of cigarettes. He left the store with several cartons of cigarettes and cash.

Spencer has been charged by the Oakland County Prosecutors Office with one count of armed robbery in the City of Farmington Hills, a felony punishable by life or any number of years imprisonment; one count of unarmed robbery in the City of Novi, one count of unarmed robbery in Lyon Township, both felonies punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment; and one count of carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

His pre-examination conference is scheduled for 9 a.m. July 17 at 52-1 District Court in Novi.
