Shamrock Athlete in Running for Lacrosse Player of the Year
Alec Gilhooly, a captain and senior lacrosse player for Detroit Catholic Central is competing against nine other Michigan athletes for the title of "2013 Player of the Year."

A Detroit Catholic Central athlete is competing against nine other Michigan athletes to become the Warrior Sports Michigan high school lacrosse player of the year.
Team captain and senior lacrosse player Alec Gilhooly has already signed his letter of intent to play lacrosse for the University of Detroit Mercy, but as the high school senior enters his final season with the Shamrocks, Gilhooly could be voted by fans as the 2013 Player of the Year.
According to the Warrior Sports website, media analysts will be monitoring lacrosse matches and player performances throughout the season. The ten contestants will added or removed from the contest throughout the season based on their individual performance and impact for their team.

Once the final four have been selected, the 2013 winner will be chosen based on the following criteria:
- Performance throughout the season
- Level of competition
- Online vote
- Big game performance
- Team success
- Highly recruited athlete
According to the website, sports analysts will provide weekly updates on the State Champs High School Sports Show and fans will be able to follow their candidate's progress throughout the season.
