Novi Appoints New High School Interim Assistant Principal

Novi High School starts the 2013-14 school year with an interim principal and interim assistant principal.

Novi High School's newly appointed interim assistant principal is Katy Dinkelmann.

The school needed someone to fill this position after Nicole Carter was appointed as interim principal earlier this month.

Dinkelmann has been teaching in the district for eight years and has been key in implementing and developing the school's dance program, Carter said in a welcome letter sent across the district Wednesday. She has a bachelor's degree from Wayne State University in science education and master's degree in public administration from the University of Michigan - Flint.

In the welcome letter, Carter also said she is proud and excited to start the 2013-14 school year as interim principal.

"I want to emphasize to you that my door is always open and I welcome your input," she said in the letter.

Carter was nominated earlier this year as the top candidate for the official principal position at Novi High School because of her relations with parents and organization. However, the Novi school board did not hire her because of her lack of experience in the position.
