Novi Motorcyclist Causes Crash That Closes I-696

A Novi motorcyclist with a suspended license rear-ended a car Friday on I-696 in Farmington Hills, according to a Detroit Free Press article.
The crash closed the westbound lanes for three hours Friday morning, the article said.
The 28-year-old Novi man was speeding on his motorcycle at the time of the 1:55 a.m. crash, according to the article, and struck the rear of a car in the left lane of westbound I-696 near Middlebelt Road.

According to a Michigan State Police news release, both drivers are thought to have been drinking alcohol before the crash, the article said.
The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to a hospital and treated for traumatic injuries to his left arm and leg, while the other driver was not hurt, according to the article.
