Novi's Soccer Goals Get Repaired

With more than 600 youth participating in Novi Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services soccer leagues each spring and fall, plus 850 active players in the Novi Michigan Jaguar Soccer Club, the reputation of Novi as a “soccer town” is well founded. As such, keeping facilities in top-notch repair is imperative for the continued success.

This spring, the Novi Parks Foundation (NPF) provided funds for 28 soccer goals to be welded, repaired and painted. Additionally, soccer nets were replaced at and other practice fields throughout Novi. The improvements will ensure quality and safe play for young athletes.

Paul Tinnion, Director of Coaching for the Novi Jaguars values the improvements. “On behalf of the entire Jaguars organization, I would like to thank the NPF for the upgrades at ITC Community Sports Park. Our players and coaches have enjoyed the improvements at the park this spring and we are proud to call it our home,” Tinnion said in the press release.

The NPF was founded in 2004 to assist with the funding of park facilities and recreational offerings.

“The Novi Parks Foundation is pleased to partner with both the City of Novi and the Jaguars to extend the necessary funding to improve soccer fields and equipment in order to provide competitive facilities for our community. Partnering with other organizations reflects the spirit and commitment of our community,” said Linda Blair, president of the Novi Parks Foundation, in the press release.

Other projects supported by the Novi Parks Foundation include Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grant match for the development of , scholarship funding to provide recreational programs for needy area children, and starter equipment for the new girl’s lacrosse program to begin in the spring of 2013.

The NPF raises funds through a Naming Rights Program and the annual golf outing. The 2012 outing will be held on August 2 at the Links of Novi.
