Novi sergeant Gilmore among graduates

Novi police sergeant graduates from prestigious School of Staff and Command at Eastern Michigan University

Novi Police Department Sergeant Kevin Gilmore graduated from the School of Police Staff and Command at Eastern Michigan University, Oct. 16.

Gilmore, who has been with the department since 2000, completed the nine-month program along with 48 other law enforcement professionals.

The school provides students with upper-level academic instruction in five core blocks of instruction and utilizes over 30 additional blocks of instruction during each session.

Among these blocks of instruction are leadership development, planning and decision making, human resource management, administration of the police agency, and critical incidents and homeland security.

“The SPSC program was a great opportunity for me to enhance my leadership and problem solving skills,” Gilmore said in a release. “I look forward to bringing new information back to the Novi Police Department and sharing it throughout the organization.”

Novi Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police David E. Molloy had high praise for the sergeant.

“I am extremely proud of Sergeant Gilmore’s professional and leadership accomplishments,” Molloy said. “The Staff and Command program provides students with the education and training needed to strengthen their capabilities with the Novi Police Department, while also enhancing resources to the citizens of Novi.”

Since 1985, over 2,000 students have completed the course.
