Oakland County Road Commission Starts $6.3M Novi Project

The project will close the 10 Mile and Napier Road intersection starting on July 17.

NOVI, MI — The Oakland County Road Commission is hoping a little pain this summer in western Novi will mean long term relief. The county is reconstructing the 10 Mile and Napier Road intersection and will install a roundabout. The $6.3 million project began Wednesday and is expected to conclude by mid-October.

In the meantime, the county will close 10 Mile Road from Nepavine Drive in Novi to Copperwood Drive in Lyon Township starting on July 17. A host of changes will be made, including:
  • Significant reduction of a hill on 10 Mile west of Napier to improve sight distance and enhance safety
  • Construction of a roundabout at the Napier/10 Mile intersection
  • Paving the gravel section of Napier Road from Nine Mile to 10 Mile Road (scheduled for 2018)
The prime contractor for the project is Dan’s Excavating of Shelby Township. The first phase of the project is expected to conclude mid-November; however, the road should fully reopen approximately mid-October.
