Person Steals $4.5K in Equipment from Novi Neighborhood

Someone stole $4,500 in property from a Novi neighborhood sometime between Aug. 23 and Aug. 26, according to a Novi police report.

The missing property belongs to Beauchamp Lawn Care and Landscape Supply, which does the landscaping for the Island Lake estates in Novi. The company's manager said employees parked the GMC truck containing the equipment in the southeast corner of the parking lot on Island Lake Drive north of Seaglen Drive on Aug. 23 at about 6 p.m., the report said.

He said the truck was locked, according to the report, and an employee found the items missing at about 7 a.m. Aug. 26.

According to the report, the stolen items include: nine pruners valued at $300, one Echo chainsaw valued at $400, one Echo leaf blower valued at $400, one Echo edging tool valued at $500 and 15 to 20 miscellaneous tools – including rakes, shovels and an axe – valued at $500.

The latch for the truck's rear sliding door was broken, which may have been caused by a hammer, the report said. The damage to the truck cost $300, according to the report.
