Police Arrest Man on Charges of Driving While Intoxicated

Novi police arrested a man around 2 a.m. June 22 on charges of driving while intoxicated, according to a police report.

An officer saw a man in a gold 2009 Honda Accord driving northbound on Haggerty Road run over the median while attempting to make a left turn onto High Pointe toward Lifetime Fitness, the report said.

The officer stopped the driver and asked him to get out of the car for several sobriety tests, according to the report, and the man was unsteady on his feet. The officer could also smell intoxicants on him, the report said.

The man said he was at TGI Friday's on Haggerty Road, according to the report.

He agreed to a preliminary breathalyzer test, which had a result of .179 percent blood alcohol content, the report said. The legal limit is .08 percent.
