Police Arrest Man on Charges of Driving While Intoxicated, Possessing Marijuana

Novi police arrested a man on June 7 on charges of driving while intoxicated and possessing marijuana, according to a police report.

Two officers went to the area of Ravello Court and Florence Drive because of a call about a suspicious vehicle in the area, the report said. The caller said that a black truck with at least two people was parked in front of his or her home, according to the report.

The officer stopped the driver of the truck as he was leaving and could immediately smell marijuana coming from the inside, the report said. There were also two passengers, and the driver said they were waiting for a friend who needed a ride from a party, according to the report.

The driver said that there was marijuana in the backseat of the truck, the report said, but he said nothing in the truck was his.

The officer could also smell alcohol on the man, according to the report. He took a preliminary breathalyzer test, which had a result of .11 percent blood alcohol content, the report said. The legal limit is .08 percent.

The officer arrested the man on charges of driving while intoxicated and possessing marijuana, according to the report. The substance found in the truck tested positive for marijuana during a field test and weighed 6.7 grams, the report said. 

The man has a hearing June 17.
