Police Arrest Woman on Charges of Driving While Intoxicated

Novi police arrested a woman June 21 on charges of driving while intoxicated, according to a police report. 

An officer saw a woman driving a red 2006 Honda Civic on Novi Road near I-96 drive over the yellow center line and in the area marked as a non-lane, the report said. The woman continued to swerve over the yellow center line several times as she continued northbound on Novi Road, according to the report. 

The officer stopped the woman and could smell intoxicants coming from the vehicle, the report said. She said she had one shot at a bar in Detroit, according to the report.

The woman had difficulty maintaining her balance as she exited the vehicle, and the officer could smell intoxicants on her, too, the report said. She agreed to a preliminary breathalyzer test, which had a result of .172 percent blood alcohol content, according to the report. The legal limit is .08 percent. 

The officer arrested and took her to the Novi police department, the report said.
