Watch Out for I-96 Construction in Novi
The Michigan Department of Transportation will begin this $4.4 million project after Labor Day.

Workers will begin construction on westbound I-96 in Oakland County after Labor Day.
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be resurfacing about 10 miles of the highway in Oakland County starting Tuesday. The project is expected to cost $4.4 million and will be completed in mid-November, according to MDOT.
The resurfacing project extends from Novi Road to the Oakland/Livingston county line, just west of Kent Lake Road, according to MDOT. The work will be done overnight, except for two weekends when westbound I-96 will be reduced to a single lane near Beck and Wixom roads for concrete patching.Â
Construction workers will resurface the freeway in segments, with lane restrictions beginning at 9 p.m. on weekdays and ending 5 a.m. the following morning. On weekends, the lanes will reopen at 8 a.m.
