Weekend Planner: Bike Rodeo, River Clean-Up and Nature Walk

Check out these fun events in town June 1-3.

Looking for something to do this weekend in Novi? Here are some ideas:

  • Where: Outside the (moved inside if raining)
  • When: Friday 6-8 p.m.
  • Pricing: Free
  • Why Go: Children ages 5-12 are invited to bring their bikes and helmets to go to stations including bike inspections, start and stops, and RockDodge. Children can also say hello to Novi police officers and get a goodie bag.

  • Where: Northville’s outdoor stage in
  • When: Friday at 7 p.m.
  • Pricing: Free
  • Why Go: Northville's Friday summer concert series continues with a performance by David Gerald playing Mississippi Blues. Remember to bring your own chair!

Spring Plant Sale

  • Where:
  • When: Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Pricing: Free
  • Why Go: Stop by Tollgate Farm to buy some plants for your garden. Selections include many donated plants from volunteers as well as plant divisions from the Tollgate gardens. Master Gardeners are on-hand to assist with garden related questions. Profits support the development and maintenance of the Tollgate gardens.

River Day

  • Where:
  • When: Saturday 10 a.m. to noon
  • Pricing: Free
  • Why Go: Help Michigan clean up the Rouge River watershed! Participate by helping Novi plant flowers, place woodchips, pick-up litter, mulch landscape beds, remove Garlic Mustard and clear walking trails at Rotary Park. Volunteers get a picnic lunch at noon.

Intergenerational Walk

  • Where:
  • When: Saturday 10:30 a.m.
  • Pricing: $6 for residents and $8 for non-residents
  • Why Go: Seniors are invited to learn about local flora and fauna from an Oakland County naturalist while walking the trails of the park. Family and friends are welcome to join.

Kiddie Crafts

  • Where:
  • When: Saturday 10:30-11 a.m.
  • Pricing: Free
  • Why Go: Children 18 months to 4 years old are invited to use their imaginations to create a work of art. It could get messy — dress accordingly!

  • Where:
  • When: Friday 4-10 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Pricing: $8 for children 3-12 and $12 for adults at the door
  • Why Go: Check out custom bikes, live entertainment, seminars, video games and more.
