Weekend Planner: Kite Decorating, Woodwind Concert and Comic Con

Check out these fun events in town May 18-20.

Looking for something to do this weekend in Novi? Here are some ideas:

  • Where: Novi Civic Theatre (in the )
  • When: Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday at 2 p.m.
  • Pricing: $15 for adults and $12 for children and seniors
  • Why Go: See local actors bring the classic fairy tale to life.

  • Where:
  • When: Friday 12:30-7 p.m., Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Pricing: $25 for a one-day pass plus $5 for parking
  • Why Go: Michigan's largest comic book and pop culture event has numerous guests, merchandise and exhibits.  

  • Where:
  • When: Saturday 3:30-5 p.m.
  • Pricing: Free
  • Why Go: Join fellow community members for in celebrating the city's friendship of Japan the final of four cherry tree plantings. You can also view the New Blooms for Novi community art project. Entertainment after the planting includes White Pine Glee Club, Trillium Women’s Choir and Raion Taiko drumming. A dedication to the memory of Steve Myers, an enthusiastic community member who supported Japanese culture in Novi, will also take place at the event.

  • When: Saturday 10:30-11:30 a.m.
  • Pricing: Free
  • Why Go: The library will have kites for children to decorate in preparation for the Lyon Township Kite Festival on June 2. 

  • Where:
  • When: Sunday at 3 p.m.
  • Pricing:  Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students and $25 for families.
  • Why Go: See the woodwind quintet Windscape perform as part of a concert series put on by the Chamber Music Society of Detroit. Families are also invited to visit a free instrument petting zoo from 1:30-2:45 p.m. before the concert at the Novi Public Library.
