Woman Arrested for Stealing Kim Kardashian Jewelry

The following information was supplied by the Novi Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

A 22-year-old woman was arrested on charges of retail fraud of the third degree after she was seen leaving without paying for two pieces of Kim Kardashian jewelry, according to a police report. On April 28 around 5 p.m., the loss prevention officers at Sears saw the woman in the Kim Kardashian section with a large purse and Sears bag with her, the report said.  The woman selected a bracelet, put it on her arm and looked around up at cameras, the report said. She then took the bracelet off and selected a necklace and set of earrings, the report said.

The loss prevention officers then saw the woman meet up with her friend; since her friend had selected a dress, the loss prevention officer thought the woman might go into the fitting room with her friend, the report said. So the officer went in and cleaned out the fitting room before the two went in, the report said.

The woman took jewelry into the fitting room and came out a few minutes later without it, the report said. The officer again went into fitting room and found the Kim Kardashian tag from the earrings, the report said.

The woman then passed all open registers and showed no attempt to pay for the merchandise, the report said. She then left the store through the lower level mall door, the report said. Outside the door, two loss prevention officers approached her, took her back to the office and called the Novi police, the report said. The loss prevention officers found both pieces of jewelry, totaling $50, the report said. The Novi police turned the woman over to the Warren police, and Sears wishes to prosecute, the report said.

Gas syphoned from car

A woman suspects that someone syphoned gas out of her car sometime between 10 a.m. on April 29 and 8 a.m. on April 30, according to a police report. The woman told police that she is convinced that the gas was taken because she had a half a tank on April 29, and the tank was empty the next day, the report said. She said she had only driven 10 miles during that time, the report said. The car was parked overnight in the woman’s driveway on W. Glen Haven Circle, the report said. No damage was done to the car and no evidence of tampering was left behind, the report said. The woman, of Northville, said she wanted to make the police aware of the situation in case it becomes an ongoing problem, the report said.

Man arrested after police find open container of alcohol in car

A man was arrested on charges of transporting an open container of alcohol after a bottle of tequila was found in his car on April 26, according to a police report. Novi police officers were dispatched around midnight to Whittler Trail and Holmes Road to check on an occupied car in the middle of the road. The officers found the car in park; it was not running, but the lights were on, the report said. There was a man in the driver’s seat and a woman in the passenger seat; they told the officers that they were just talking, the report said.

Then an officer noticed a bottle of tequila on the passenger side floor. The driver, a 24-year-old man from Detroit, was then put under arrest and his car was towed. He is set to be arraigned in court on May 7.

Also, six people face charges of driving under the influence of alcohol from April 26-30.
