1 Dead After Barn With Apartment Catches Fire In Oakland County: Police
Investigators do not know what caused the fire.
GROVELAND TOWNSHIP, MI — One person was killed in a northern Oakland County barn fire Monday night, according to Michigan State Police.
The fire happened at 11:50 p.m. Monday at a barn with an interior apartment behind a home in the 9100 Keir Road block in Groveland Township, according to police.
When fire crews arrived, the structure was fully engulfed in flames, according to police.

After extinguishing the flames, investigators found a body inside the barn. They learned the homeowners' uncle, a 76-year-old man, was inside the barn when it caught fire. The family told investigators he lived in the apartment.
Investigators were waiting on autopsy reports to positively identify the body.

Investigators do not know what caused the fire. They do not believe it was intentional.
No other details were released as the investigation continues.
"Detectives are continuing to investigate this fire," Michigan State Police First Lt. Mike Shaw said. "We are waiting on the Medical Examiner report to positively identify the body inside as the homeowners uncle."
