The Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library is closing out its 61/39 Raffle with a rockin’ finish!

The grand drawing for 39 percent of the money raised (61 percent goes to the 61-year-old Friends organization to make up for revenue lost to Covid-19 restrictions on events) will take place at 6:45 Tuesday, March 15. Choosing the winning ticket and introducing a multi-media presentation that follows will be Lynne Woodison, veteran rock radio host for over three decades (WABX, WCSX, WWWW and WRIF-FM) and a very successful female voice in the male-dominated rock radio genre.

Why Woodison? Because the drawing is a prelude to a 7 p.m. presentation in the Library’s multi-purpose room by author Edward Sarkis Balian who will share stories from his book “Turn the Page: The Bob Seger Story.”

“We are thrilled to have one of Detroit radio’s best known rock voices preside over our crucial final raffle drawing which comes just before a lecture on one of Detroit’s most famous rockers,” said Friends President Ron Meegan.

Woodison will draw the winning ticket at 6:45 p.m., then introduce Balian at 7 p.m.. Attendees for the event need to register in advance by clicking on the calendar at rhpl.org for details. The drawing ---but not the lecture---will be live-streamed from the Library at 500 Old Towne Road in downtown Rochester

Tickets for the raffle will be available until 6 p.m. the evening of the drawing: $50 for one, $75 for two tickets and three for $100. As of March 1, there was about $14,000 in the jackpot. Note well: Last year’s 60-40 raffle winner's share was $9,400 before taxes!
