LAKE ORION, MI — A former Spanish teacher at Lake Orion High School has been sentenced to a year in jail and must register as a sex offender after she pleaded no contest to sex crimes with a student, according to a report.

Kathleen Boozer pleaded no contest in a deal with prosecutors to two counts of 3rd degree criminal sex crimes, Fox 2 reported. Two charges were dropped under the terms of the agreement and Boozer was sentenced to jail.

She had faced up to 15 years in prison after prosecutors said she had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student in 2014, including in the classroom. She was 28 at the time.

The two reportedly taped black construction paper over the doors and windows to conceal the relationship.
