Loyalty was rewarded in more ways than one March 15 when the Friends of the Rochester Hills Library picked its winner of the 61/39 Raffle grand prize.

Barbara Wolak of Rochester---a retired teacher who is well-known to library staff as a regular patron---had her entry drawn from 460 tickets by special guest radio personality Lynne Woodison and won $5,976---39 percent of the pot.

The Friends’ share was 61 percent (to honor the group’s 61st anniversary). Its $9,348 take was a major injection to the Friends treasury after two years of fund-raising opportunities hampered by the Covid-19 pandemic.

And Ms. Wolak sweetened the check presentation event even more----she gave $1,000 of her winnings right back to the Friends. β€œVery nice touch with the $1,000 gift,”said Friends President Ron Meegan in appreciation.
