Friends of the Library start 2022 with 61-39 raffle

Lower ticket prices, early-bird drawing are new features

(Friend of the RHPL)

The Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library are trying to make 2022 a very happy new year--- if you’re willing to take a chance to help them raise funds.

The Friends group is following up on its successful 60th anniversary 60/40 raffle with the 2022 version---the 61/39 Raffle. (They’re a year older so they’re looking at one percent more to fund the Friends library-support programs.)

But want some REALLY good news? The raffle tickets are more affordable ---$50 for one, $75 for two tickets and three for $100! The Covid-19 epidemic put a big crimp on several of the Friends usual fund-raisers and the raffles are helping to close that funding gap.

Waitβ€”there’s more glad tidings: We’re doubling up on the prizes! There will be a PAIR of winners. This time, there’s an early bird $500 drawing set for 6:45 p.m. February 15 at the Library’s multi-purpose room at 500 Old Towne Road in downtown Rochester. A lucky early buyer (chosen from all tickets purchased before 6 p.m. February 15) will get $500, with that ticket going back in the barrel for the grand drawing for 39 percent of the remaining pot. Prizes are minus any required taxation.

That grand draw will be at 6:45 p.m. March 15, also at the Library’s Multi-Purpose room. (Entries close at 6 p.m. that day). Note well: Last year’s 60-40 raffle single winner's share was $9,400 before taxes!
