Hundreds Lose Power in Oakland Township, Rochester Hills

The power was expected to be restored Tuesday night, according to DTE.

High winds Monday were responsible for pockets of power outages throughout northern Oakland County. According to a DTE Energy power outage map, more than 350 customers in Rochester Hills and Oakland Township lost power Monday night; the power was expected to be restored Tuesday night.

Here's a look at the outages; check back with Patch for updates about the wind and the power outages. 

  • As of 10 p.m. Monday, there were 266 customers without power in the Cranberry Lake area of Oakland Township.  Estimated restoration time: between 9:30-11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
  • About 50 customers were without power in the area between Old Perch and Livernois roads south of Walton Boulevard in Rochester Hills. Estimated restoration time: between 9:30-11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
  • There were about 50 customers without power in the area of Snell and Orion roads in Oakland Township. Estimated restoration time: between 9:30-11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
  • A larger outage area was reported north of Romeo Road on the edge of Oakland Township; 647 customers were without power. Estimated restoration time: between 7:30-9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

DTE has released around 100 contract line crews to assist with expected major outages on the east coast as Hurricane Sandy hits. However, DTE's own crews will be staying in Michigan.

"We have not sent any of our own crews because we want to see what happens with the weather here," spokesman John Austerberry told Patch.
