Oakland Co. Refugee Caseworker Stabbed, Injured; 1 Arrested: Sheriff

Investigators were still trying to determine what led to the stabbing.

ORION TOWNSHIP, MI — A caseworker was stabbed multiple times at an Orion Township home Wednesday, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

The caseworker, who works for a company that assists refugees, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was being treated for serious stab wounds, according to officials.

Officials said the stabbing happened Wednesday afternoon at a home on Red Root Road in Orion Township.

The suspected attacker, identified as a refugee from Afghanistan, sped away from the scene, but was eventually captured by officers, according to officials.

Officials did not immediately release additional details about the suspect's legal status in the U.S. or a possible motive for the attack.

Investigators believe this was an isolated incident that didn't involve anyone else and that there was no imminent danger to the community.
