Officer discharges firearm to euthanize deer

A sheriff's deputy discovered a severely injured deer on the side of the road near Adams Road and Shannon Drive on Dec. 16. The officer "put the animal down using department-issued firearm," according to the police report.

Identity stolen to pay utility bill

A resident reported Thursday that an unknown person had transferred his or her DTE Energy bill balances to his account in the amounts of $130.40 and $144.72. The resident spoke with the DTE fraud department to resolve the issue.

Mother-in-law practices tough love

On Saturday, a woman filed a police report more than a year after her daughter-in-law stole $700 from her account via an online transfer. The woman waited a year to file a report because "she kept giving (the) suspect time to make good on the money," though she said she never did.

Domestic disturbance leads to arrest

Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic disturbance Friday at a condominium on South Tremonte Circle. A male and female were arguing loudly "over wet boots in the house," and the man was arrested after deputies ran his ID and discovered an active felony arrest warrant. The suspect was transferred to the Royal Oak Police Department, from which the warrant originated.

Lawn damaged by unknown vehicle

A man on the 5700 block of Beechview Drive reported last Wednesday that someone had driven over his lawn twice in a week, damaging his lawn. He said he "is concerned that there might be damage to his septic tank and field along with damage to his front lawn" and has requested extra police patrols, according to police reports.

Loose change stolen from vehicle

Thieves broke into a vehicle parked on the 4800 block of Goodison Place Drive last Tuesday. The vehicle's owner said he parked his car in his parents' driveway at 11 p.m. on Dec. 13, 2010, then discovered the next morning that someone had broken into the driver's side window to gain entry to the vehicle. According to the resident, he had taken everything out of his car other than some loose change, which was then taken by the thieves. There are no suspects at this time.
