A popular Lebanese food restaurant​ in Oakland County abruptly closed last week.

LAKE ORION, MI — A popular Lebanese food restaurant in Lake Orion abruptly closed last week.

Anita’s Kitchen, located in downtown Lake Orion, closed on July 13 after more than five years.

The owners said the decision to close the restaurant came as a new opportunity gave them a chance to make a thoughtful decision that aligns with their long-term goals.

"After several wonderful years of serving this incredible community, we must share the difficult news that Anita’s Kitchen will be closing our Lake Orion location, effective immediately," the restaurant's owners said.

Anita’s Kitchen locations in Ferndale, Detroit and Detroit Metro Airport will remain open.

The owners added that staff from the Lake Orion location can choose to be moved to either the Detroit or Ferndale location. If not, the owners said they will privately discuss severance pay with staff.

While there has not been an announcement of what will replace Anita’s Kitchen in Lake Orion, the owners said "the new operators have expressed great interest in retaining much of our staff, and they have provided their contact information."
