2 Arrested After Stealing 'Tens Of Thousands' In Value From Canton Storage Units: Police
Investigators have identified more than 30 victims, and they believe there may be more, police said.

CANTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A man and woman were arrested last month in connection with thefts worth tens of thousands of dollars in value from multiple storage facilities in Canton Township, according to police.
Umar Long, 45, and Michelle Gilbert, 41, both from Indianapolis, Indiana, were each charged with larceny $20,000 or more, receiving and concealing stolen property $20,000 or more and breaking and entering. Each count is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
They were placed in jail, each with a $50,000 bond. Their next court date is scheduled for May 9.

In early April, officials began investigating a series of break-ins and thefts at storage units in the area of Joy and Haggerty roads in Canton Township, police said.
On April 27, police said officers arrested Long as he was breaking into a unit. Officers then searched a Canton-area hotel where they found Gilbert and tens of thousands of dollars in stolen goods, police said.

As of Friday, investigators have identified more than 30 victims, and they believe there may be more, police said.
