Man Hit, Killed By Garbage Truck In Metro Detroit: Reports

It was unclear if the driver will face charges in connection with the crash.

WESTLAND, MI — A man was hit and killed by a garbage truck Monday in Wayne County, according to local reports.

Police said the crash happened around 5 p.m. Monday on Akron Court, near Grand Traverse Street in Westland.

Investigators believe the garbage truck was backing up when it hit the 29-year-old man, who was in the roadway.

The man was killed in the crash, police said.

Police said the driver of the truck stopped at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. It was unclear if the driver will face charges in connection with the crash.

Reports identified the garbage truck as owned by Priority Waste.
